With the evaluations of my initial JOSEPH S/S 2016 design in mind, I re-designed my make up look slightly. As previously mentioned, I decided to intensify the colour of the lips and reduced the length of the graphic liner on the eyes. I also added a small pop of colour to the eyes. I thought a tone of blue would best suit the JOSEPH S/S 2016 collection which consisted of mostly black, white and grey. I felt that this was in accordance with the NARS house style by keeping the complexion natural, with the adittion of points of interest.
After I trailed my initial design, I had mixed feelings about the hair design. I felt it was carried out well, but the look wasn't particularly in season. I decided to opt for an equally 'sleek' look that would coincide with the edgy nature of the JOSEPH S/S collection.
New Hair Design
Tight dutch braids cascading symmetrically down the back of the head. Careful attention must be paid to ensuring each braid is of equal size and the central parting is accurate.
Timed Assessment
As part of the assessment criteria I was required to produce my catwalk design under exam conditions. I had 2 hours to create the design and photograph it, leaving enough time for my examiner to assess the finished look.
Evaluation (Problems Encountered!)
Unfortunately, despite being well prepared for the assessment with my designs charts and application notes ready to assist me, my model arrived late to assessment. To make matters worse my model also arrived having cut her hair in to a short asymmetric bob despite having previously discussed the hair style I had planned for her.
I maintained a professional manner and kept myself calm. I endeavoured to create the hair style I had originally planned. However, as you can see from the end result, this was a very unfinished and messy outcome but under the circumstances Im not sure what else I could have done. In terms of the make up application I am really pleased with the dewy-need of the skin and I think Ive enhanced her natural skin tone in a true to NARS manner. Her skin glows in all the right places without looking too 'overdone'. I also feel that the application of the eyeliner is precise and accurate, however I think for my final photoshoot I will go back to having the eye liner more exaggerated as I think some of the 'edginess' I was trying to get across has been lost. I also feel that although the lip colour applied is very natural and feminine, under photographic lighting it has come across much lighter than I had intended in my designs.
