Foundation Advert Planning

Roland Mouret S/S 2016
Calvin Klein S/S 2016

Inspried by the natural, dewy skin trend seen prominently on the catwalk of S/S 2016, I decided that one of the products I wanted to advertise would support this trend. Based on my research in to some of NARS' iconic products, I thought the best product that fit this would be their Shee Glow Foundation. This foundation fits the natural skin trend as it creates a sheer, build able coverage that leaves a luminous finish to the skin.

True to existing NARS advertisements I wanted to show off the range in tones they offer by featuring two contrasting models. The two models I selected have two contrasting skin tones, Celia who is typically caucasian with blonde hair and fair skin and Natasha who is of mixed rice and has dark hair and a natural deep tan complexion. I thought featuring the two of them in the same advert would create a nice contrast similar to the advert above. If I maintain the same make up and hair styling between the two then this will create a sense of harmony and clearly promote the use of the foundation advertised.

As the look I am capturing is a day look featuring natural dewy finish skin, I wanted the lighting to mirror this. I wanted to create a a typical beauty lighting setup that would soften and brighten the skin but I also wanted to bring in some lighting gels to emulate the 'daytime glow' I wanted to achieve.

The make up design I have created is intended to really enhance the models skin to create a beautifully natural looking dewy complexion. It is also for this reason that I have kept all other aspects of the face very minimal; for example I have kept the eyeshadow very basic and stuck to natural hues of beige and brown. I intend to create a dewy complexion through the use of cream highlighters mixed in to a satin finish foundation.

For the hair design I decided to stick to a similar version of what I created for my JOSEPH S/S 2016 catwalk look. I thought a similar sleek hair pulled away from the face would bright attention to the face and show off the dewy skin i intend to create in order to promote the luminous effects of the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation.
