Overall I am really happy with the outcome of these images, I feel that even though for the submission I could only submit two images, the full spread which can be seen here clearly shows my understanding of a vogue beauty editorial and the NARS editorial style. I think the quality of the photography and editing is high and I think the overall effect is professional. If I could make any changes it would be to add further copy to the beauty editorial.

Vogue Editorial - Planning
For my Vogue Editorial in collaboration with NARS I wanted my editorial beauty story to feature around the bright colours and shapes on the catwalk, which heavily informed my catwalk looks.

For this make up look, I took the graphic eye liner and exaggerated it even further by covering a larger area of the lid and featuring it in a bright bold colour which has been prominent on the catwalks of S/S 2016. I think this looks still coincides with the NARS house style as I plan to keep the skin clear and contouring very subtle to keep focus on the bright candy apple lips and the graphic shadow on the eye.
Adapted Make up design from Isabel Marant S/S 2016 (Look 2)
For this look I softened the orange eyeshadow used in my Isabel Marant catwalk look and added a pop of extra colour by featuring a smooth eyeliner in aqua green to contrast against the neon orange. In order to stay true to the NARS style I kept the lips minimal and natural toned.

Vogue Beauty Stories
The house style of the Vogue Beauty editorials are fairly traditional in terms of fashion editorial layout. A beauty story will focus around a specific trend or a group of similar trends from the same season. The beauty story will feature 3-4 images which can consist of 3-4 different looks. The first image featured in the story will usually be adorned with the 'Vogue Beauty' logo swell as the beauty story title.

Lipstick Advert (Night Look) - Final Image & Evaluation
Overall I am really pleased with this outcome and feel it really portrays the sensual and sexy nature I am trying to put across. I feel I have stuck to the NARS ethos and created a look that is both simplistic yet also has a feel of feminine sex appeal. I think the overall finish of the advert is of high quality and looks like a genuine NARS campaign piece, I think this is because I have kept the layout clean, simple and focused on the appearance of the model. The main thing I would change about this image, is the hair styling. I feel that the hair styling lets the image down a little and could be improved.

Lipstick Advert - Planning
Emporio Armani |
Burberry |
Inspired by the S/S trend of the mulberry purple lip, I decided to focus my second NARS advertisement around the promotion of another of their key products: NARS Audacious Lipstick. As this trend features quite a dark sultry tone of purple with a red undertone I thought it would make sense for this to a nighttime look and for the whole advertisement to emulate past NARS advertisements that have been highly glamorous and sexy, pushing through the NARS ethos of celebrating feminine sex appeal and playfulness with make up.

Harriet |
For this shoot, I chose a model who would also put across NARS' diverse approach to promoting products for women of all ethnicities. Harriet has a caucasian appearance, however her complexion is slightly more mediteranean looking with light tan and yellow undertones.
In keeping with past NARS' advertising campaigns I wanted to create a hairstyle that was glamorous and sexy, but without being too over the top or overbearing. I planned to create gentle waves in the hair using heated tongs, then brushing these out and applying serum to smooth the finish in to loose natural looking waves.
For the make up design, I thought it would be true to NARS house style to make the lips the most prominent feature of the face. I aimed to do this by keeping the skin matte and adding only subtle contouring. I wanted the skin to come across flawless and glamorous so I did add a little gentle highlight on the cheekbones and forehead. In order to maintain a glamorous and sexy feel, I smoked out the eyes and featured some dark neutral hues of brown to create a fairly soft but sexy look.
For the photoshoot I wanted to emulate the sensual and sexy feel of past advertising campaigns by featuring some shadow and gels to create some mood lighting. After doing some research in to lighting techniques, I found the above image. I found this image quite inspirational and decided to imitate the lighting technique to fit my advertisement. I wanted to light the skin appropriately for a beauty image, but I also wanted to add depth through shadows and create a playful and sensual mood through the addition of gels - which can be seen in the setup diagram below
